The William Grant Still Arts Center is in the proud to announce the 32nd annual Black Doll Show. This year’s show “Space is the Place” curated by Cheryl Williams, will include the works of Fana Babadayo, Jerrye Camp, Beverly Collins, 
Cynthia Davis (Dolls of Hope), Pat Harris (ABBDA), Johann Hassan, Saleh Adoum Idriss, Dolores Johnson, Sultana Khabeer, Adrianna Mabrie, Brandy Mack, Dale Guy Madison, Karen Oyekanmi (ABBDA), Lyn Rockwell (ABBDA), Mimi Savage, Pat Shivers, C Jerome Woods. We will also feature the collections of the American Black Beauty Doll Association (ABBDA), Bette Braxton, The Friends of William Grant Still Arts Center and Billie Green. The dolls are playfully situated in exhibition specific murals by Raul Baltazar and AISE

This year’s theme, “Space is the Place”, was chosen by Cheryl Williams, is based in the future, to explore through the imagination, how bodies may evolve, mutate, become hybridized and genetically altered, through dolls, and other media. To create this futuristic environment, this year we have also included drawings, painting, poetry, murals and video. The show opens with a reception on December 8, 2012 from 2 -5 pm. In conjunction with the exhibit, we are also offering doll making workshops with expert doll artists on December 15, January 5 and 19 from 1- 3 pm.
